If you’re reading this post, it’s likey because we at www.mycovidresponse.org need your help for some last minute holiday assistance!
Opportunity #1: Adopting Families in Need
We have been stepping into impossible problems since March and finding solutions, and we don’t plan on stopping now. The last few days have been no different – we were recently notified by our partner agency Oakland Schools that 25 more families they assist have encountered new obstacles this holiday, and need urgent help to buy gifts, household items, and more.
We are asking you to consider adopting one of these families for the holiday – and we made a brand new site to be able to do it digitally.
2. Sign up for food deliveries in our new online sign up system!
Have some time over the next few days to make some food deliveries? You can now sign up online to complete food deliveries just the same way you did at Thanksgiving! You can select times and dates that work for you. We still have dozens of families who still need food delivered between Christmas and New Years!
3. Make a gift to help our efforts continue!
When the site first launched from Cam’s dining room table in March, we had no idea what this year would bring. We didn’t know we would create a digital-first, safety-conscious, relationship-driven, community-focused effort that would surpass our wildest expectations. All we knew is that a small group of us wanted to coordinate aid in a collaborative way that served our neighbor in need with accountability, efficiency, empathy, and dignity.
You have made that desire a reality, and helped us take it beyond what we ever could have thought. This collective effort has been a bright spot of hope in a difficult time. Thank you for your service this year, and we look forward to continuing to work with you in 2021 as we continue to battle COVID-19 and its effects on the lives of our neighbors. We hope you have a wonderful holiday season!
