This post was written by OUWB student Mustafa Polat who is coordinating with Michigan businesses and universities to get Medical PPE to the front lines.

Hospitals all around Michigan have shortages of critical medical supplies such as masks, gloves, face shields, gowns and other personal protective equipment (PPE). This means the people fighting COVID-19 from the front lines are unprotected and at a greater risk of getting sick. Here’s how you can help:

Calling local businesses & organizations looking to donate Personal Protective Equipment(PPE) to Beaumont Health!

Here are direct contacts and hotlines from the State of Michigan and Beaumont Health for direct donation:

As the number of COVID-19 cases rises, there will be a potential shortage in the PPE that is crucial for health-care workers working on the frontlines and other patients in the hospital to remain protected from the transmission of the infection.

Most-needed PPE at this time:

  • New or unused disposable face masks
  • New or unused disposable hand gloves
  • N-95 masks (also called Respirators)
  • Eye protection (eye shields/goggles)
  • Disposable gowns
  • Disposable surgical caps
  • Disposable foot covers
  • Anti-microbial or bleach wipes
  • Hand sanitizer

Even large institutions are having trouble gaining access to supplies during the global medical supply shortage that COVID-19 has caused. There are a few large organizations that have stepped up to do bulk shipments such as Flexport, Amazon, and ProjectN95, but we need so many more. If you know of any, please share them in the comments.

Donations are strongly encouraged and appreciated. In order to properly accept donations, Beaumont leadership asks direct drop-off donations can be made to:

41965 Ecorse Road; Van Buren Twp.
Monday through Friday: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Beaumont Service Center
26901 Beaumont Blvd, Southfield
Through April 4 until 6 p.m.

Please check-in at the front door with security for further directions

Donors who are not feeling well should wait until they are well before donating supplies or equipment.

Bulk donations for pick-up by Beaumont can be organized by contacting
